  1. Jenny McCarthy Dating Bears’ Brian Urlacher

    April 12, 2012 by editor

God I love Jenny McCarthy. What straight man doesn’t? Not only is she smokin’ hot, she also happens to be an acclaimed author, so she’s got the looks and the brains. She models, acts, writes, and is a mom to her autistic son. Let’s just agree that she’s a goddess on earth. Apparently she went on a date with Chicago Bears lineman Brian Urlacher this week, which prompted me to do some digging about what kind of guy Jenny likes to date. My “Jenny McCarthy dating tips” below. But first, Starpulse.com’s account of Jenny & Brian’s romantic night:

“Model-turned-actress and TV personality Jenny McCarthy appears to have found love with a sports star once romantically linked to Paris Hilton.

The former Playboy Playmate of the Year was spotted dining out with Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night, and romance rumors spread as the two attempted to avoid the paparazzi by sneaking out a back door at steak house Mastro’s.

The new couple alert comes a week after McCarthy hinted she’d found love while filming reality TV show Love in the Wild in the Dominican Republic.

She told Access Hollywood Live she was told by show producers she’d have to wait until filming wrapped before getting romantic with anyone connected to the show.

She explained, “They said, ‘Jenny, you can’t sleep with anybody…’ so we didn’t sleep together. We just made out.” “

On to my personal dating tips for getting with Jenny McCarthy–or someone just like her. From everything I’ve read  on her guy preferences to pet peeves, it’s important that you:

    1. Be younger than 40, as she’s claimed she likes “younger guys.”

    2. Have an online profile. In November 2011, she started online dating.

    3. Kickbox or take karate, two of her favorite pastimes.

    4. Be a “guy’s guy”–she has said she doesn’t like girly men.

    5. And last but not least, this is judging by her date with Urlacher, take her to a classy steak joint if you do score a first date.

    Good luck gents!

  2. Jennifer Lawrence = Dream Girl

    March 21, 2012 by editor

Jennifer Lawrence has reached a new level of amazing in my book. Of course she is a stunning woman and talented actress. But her personality is what I’d like to address in this post, and further advise guys out there who are looking for a down-to-earth woman: take a page out of Jennifer’s book. When David Letterman asked her about fans’ reactions when meeting her, Jennifer could not understand what all the fuss is about. She portrayed the same humbleness and modesty on the Letterman show and that she has in every interview of hers that I’ve read. This, guys, is a girl who will remain true to herself regardless of fame. OK Magazine reported,

“We believe Charlie Sheen was the last celebrity to to call someone a “troll,” but Hunger Gamesstar Jennifer Lawrence is bringing it back! The actress appeared on Late Show with David Letterman last night and explained why she’s can’t understand why fans like her.

Jennifer explained to David Letterman last night how Hunger Games fans “scream, cry and almost faint” when they meet her. But Jennifer can’t understand why they love her so much!

“Is it possible to see the film and see what they see on the screen?” David asked on Late Show.

“No. I am a troll!” Jennifer said.”

Here comes my dating tip #104, fellas: pick a girl who acknowledges her talents and assets, and uses them every day, but remains even-keeled about herself and life. I’ve found that dating is so much more enjoyable when you’re with somebody who is truer to themselves than to anybody else, and who won’t waver under the opinions (good or bad) of others.

  3. Restaurant Review: Zin Bistro Americana & Meeting the Parents

    February 25, 2012 by editor

It’s funny when I started the blog I intended this to be a blog about my raucous lifestyle as I went through the countryside swashbuckling as a recently single guy.  As some of you guys already know I, unfortunately, was a little too successful with my online dating and found the girl of my dreams and I am now completely and totally in love with this girl.

Last night was the big night when I got to meet her mother and her mom’s boyfriend.  Oddly enough I wasn’t even nervous I was just excited.

I will give you guys a tip.  I went to Trader Joes and bought roses.  The best places in the world to buy roses are Trader Joe’s and Costco.  At Trader Joe’s they have these beautiful mini roses in bunches that were something like a dozen for $5.  So, I bought 3 different types of them.  When you give somebody flowers you don’t want to let them know necessarily that you bought them at a discount place.  So, what I did and what I do is I take the plastic off the outside and I re-bunch them all together so it is something really special and in this case red, yellow, and, I think, light cream white roses then and I repackage them in a piece of clear plastic which makes it look like it came from a more expensive florist.

Dinner at Zin restaurant was just magical.  I showed up gave her mom the flowers, a kiss on the cheek and told her she had done a spectacular job creating the most wonderful person I’d ever seen on the planet.

We then went in.  You walk in the door.  It has an old school ‘50-‘60s dinner club feel.  They had live music playing.  There was what I think was a 12 year old kid dressed like Frank Sinatra singing Frank Sinatra songs.  As we walked past they had a nice bar, the place was packed, and candles everywhere dimly lit.  Just the kind of restaurant I like going to at night.

We had a table looking out over the water. Somebody must have called and made these reservations special in advance because the place was packed. There was a lake that gives the illusion of sitting by the ocean or I guess sitting by a lake, but I haven’t been in too many restaurants by a lake.  There are little boats on the lake, sparkling water, and gorgeous lights.  Just an unbelievable gorgeous setting.

The food was actually quite good.  American supper club type of food if that makes any sense.  Shannon and I started off with fried calamari which was quite good in an Aioli sauce.  We also got a dozen oysters which we split at the table.  They were just absolutely miraculous.  I am a huge fan of raw oysters.  Shannon also ordered a bowl of the lobster bisque which was incredibly good and incredibly, incredibly rich.  We then ordered a panko covered sea bass which was absolutely wonderful and super light.

My favorite part was the bread and pesto sauce they had as well as the dessert we got which was a bananas flambé.

Make sure to look at the picture carefully.  That was Shannon adding the cinnamon to the bananas flambé.  The guy who presented it did an incredibly good job and was very funny and the whole thing was dramatic with flames and sparks with all kinds of craziness taking place.

The restaurant was very, very good and even more exceptional than the quality food was the ambience which you could not have picked a better environment to meet the parents for the first time.  We had an incredibly great conversation and it turns out that Shannon’s’ mom’s boyfriend is also a man of the sea so we got to talk harbors, tides, oceans and sharks and all of my favorite things and just had the absolute time of my life.

It was just a magical and wonderful experience and I am in love with my new family and they picked the most perfect possible spot to meet.

  4. Dating Tips When Going Out with a Girl Like Heather Locklear

    January 13, 2012 by editor

Okay, let’s face it, sha-schwing.  We would all love to date a girl that looks like Heather Locklear.  Substance abuse, alcoholism, drug addiction, and even those high-end prescription drugs are not uncommon in this world.

Let’s face it, sometimes even a smoking hot girl on drugs can still be a great person underneath it all albeit with some ”issues”.

So, how do you go out on a date with a girl like this?

    1. Take her somewhere they don’t serve booze.  Take her to the Japanese tea garden, the zoo, the beach, or on a nice hike.  That way she is not so tempted.
    2. Do something light and easy.  Taking somebody to see House of wax terror trilogy in 3D is probably not going to be the soothing romantic date you were hoping for.  Along with it you may want to skip the bumper cars and god forbid take her to the shooting range.
    3. Don’t let her drive. ( I’m just sayin’)
    4. Have the date during the day.  In case you haven’t noticed the really weird stuff on a date usually takes place late at night.
    5. Feed her something healthy.  Getting her hyped out on hostess twinkies and red bull is probably not a good dating move.
    6. Take her on a date relatively close to her home.  That way if things don’t turn out so hot it will be easy to get her back to her pad

  5. Girl With The Dragon Tattoo 1st date tips for guys.

    December 26, 2011 by editor

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a movie that every girl wants to see. The downside is that it deals with some pretty dark issues, including rape. We put together a list of tips to soften the date and make sure “The Girl” comes away from it sparkling and happy.

I recommend doing all of these, after the movie, to help restore that Christmas spirit.

If she is not demanding to see the Dragon Tattoo movie, I highly recommend Mission Impossible instead for arm clutching, romantic, adventure.

If she does demand the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, then here are the tips to soften the night. Do these AFTER the movie time is over.

    1. After Christmas Sales – Girls love shopping and girls love sales. I know for you it is like sticking a burning stick in your eye, but trust me on this. Check out what stores she likes before hand, then do your research online and find which ones are having after Christmas sales. Then after the movie, surprise her by saying, “Hey, wouldn’t it be fun to go look at Nordstrom’s sale stuff.” Honestly, for me, there is nothing I like better than watching a hot chick try on different outfits.

    2. Find out what her favorite dessert is, go get it, and eat it in the car. Half of this one is in the delivery. Ask her what dessert she loves best, whether it is Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Chip, or Hostess Twinkies, and when she tells you, (if you like it) then get enthusiastic about how fun it would be to grab some! Obviously if it is a hot fudge sundae at Coco’s then you are better off eating it inside than in the car.

    3. Watch funny YouTube videos on your iPad 2 in its shiny new case! When you get back to the car, say something like, “Show me your favorite happy stuff on YouTube!”  Remember to watch HER favorite stuff not yours. You may just love the video where the guy gets hit with the hammer in the balls, but she may not find it nearly as funny.

    4. Find the star constellations and watch for shooting stars. We just had a big meteor shower. On January 3rd and 4th the Quandrantids meteor shower will be happening again. Read up on our tips for watching a meteor shower. Even if there is no meteor shower going on, then bring a guide on the star constellations, especially one that tells a little of what they mean. This will literally put you guys back in the stars.

  6. 6 ways to enjoy the Winter Solstice

    December 22, 2011 by editor

    1. Rent a boat and get the blankets – This is obviously for those who are somewhere that the water hasn’t frozen, and where you are not going to die in the romantic event. I remember two years ago in Albuquerque they have some kind of a winter river festival where people take to the water in boats to see the Christmas lights, and I know in Newport Beach they do the same. Nice girl, some bread and brie, maybe some jam to sweeten things up, and a big stack of warm blankets on a small boat. I can think of worse things to do. (Obviously do all the safe stuff the Coast Guard or your local lake patrol says because you could die in the winter on the water.)

    2. Take a hike somewhere beautiful in the starlight. Again, pack some fun snacks, (chicks dig snacks), and plan out a romantic hike into nature somewhere. Bring along some flashlights, a couple of blankets, and of course snacks. By the way if you haven’t tried it yet, check out Whole Foods new Chocolate with Toffee and Salt. The stuff is like crack and has flavors that girls crave. Make it a short safe hike which is much more romantic than a hard march. Even just out into a park. There is something magic about being in Nature at night, but being warm and snugly.

    3. Got snow? Get some bright camping lights and make a snowman with your loved ones, and a well planned and organized snowball fight with hot chocolate at the end.

    4. Snuggle up and get on your Hanky Panky, but wear protection!

    5. If you can do it without breaking laws or burning down the forest a bon fire with marshmallows. Make sure to stack the wood into a teepee shape, with kindling below that, and paper below that to get it to light easy.

    6. Go find a drive in movie and celebrate the fact that it is cold and night! Bring lots of blankets so no one can tell what is going on under them and you stay warm.
